Joint Repairs
The control joints and expansion joints in concrete slabs are crucial. Theses small joints cannot be ignored, and must be properly treated and honored.
It is critical that we clean the sides of the existing joint with a diamond tooling for the joint sealant to adhere. Once the joints are properly prepared and cleaned out, we fill them with the joint sealant of your choice. Joint filers are formulated to be robust to ensure that under heavy hard wheel traffic. It will not damage your joint edges, allowing sufficient flexibility to withstand small joint movements.
Interior joints and some exterior joints with movement less than 20% are commonly filed and perform for years of service in the utmost demanding service conditions.
National Engineering owns plural component polyurea joint pumps that pump and install the fasted setting polyurea.
Abrasive Blasting
This method of surface preparation is also known as sandblasting. At National Engineering we use this method to remove rust and corrosion from metal surfaces, or as a form of concrete preparation. We use many different types of media when we blast. Not to exclude dry ice, walnut shells, sand, garnet, and black beauty (coal slag). When dust is a concern we offer Sponge -Jet blasting. Ideal for -Tank linings, Ship repair, Industrial Coatings, Corrosion Removal, Metal Blasting, and Swimming Pool Interiors.
Edge Grinding
Here at National Engineering Edge Grinding is a crucial method used when the large equipment cannot get flush with the edges or obstacles. National Engineering understands the importance in the details. Edge grinding is a very labor intensive task, hand grinding all edges and details with small hand grinders. This process is a crucial step in ensuring a successful installation of your quality flooring system. At National Engineering we use only the top of the line hand grinders, Metabo brand grinders that utilize dust shrouds.
These grinders are attached to our HEPA vacuums to provide a clean and safe work environment.
Shot Blasting
Here at National Engineering Shot blasting is a recommended method of surface preparation. To ensure a successful flooring system we begin with the proper surface preparation.
Shot blasting will remove surface latence to create a surface profile and open up the concrete porosity to create a bond profile. Shot blasting equipment utilizes an a wheel spinning at high speeds to throw small steel balls at the substrate in a controlled, dry, 99% dust-free operation. This process removes surface contamination, adds profile and vacuums the concrete clean in one swift process.
Diamond Grinding
National Engineering’s 2000 lb planetary diamond grinders utilize 480 volt 3 phase motors. These high power machines are strongly recommended for large projects.
Depending on the aggressiveness of the diamond tooling used on the grinder, it can be used to prepare the surface. This is especially useful when applying thin coatings, or when there is a need to remove mastics, epoxies, and urethane, paint and thick coatings.
Our heavy dusty multi-headed grinders can be outfitted with t-rex or carbide tipped slicers to quickly cut through heavy, built-up adhesives, elastomeric coatings, waterproof membranes and more.
